Il Giullare, the circusy sofa
Gaetano Pesce plays with circus imagery to create an extraordinary sofa with an evocative form, linking back to the typical headgear of jesters. With Il Giullare, the living area is transformed into a magical setting that transmits vitality and optimism, thanks to its ironic and colorful design. “As we know, the jesters at the various courts in the past had the function of downplaying drama, acting out less serious and anxious viewpoints while emphasizing positive, optimistic aspects, all topped with an abundance of wit and good cheer. This product I have created for Meritalia attempts to suggest all this and more,” the designer explained.
Il Giullare is a sofa composed of modular parts, or more precisely of “sections combined like segments,” ready for grouping and available in different sizes. These elements have different colors and are joined by zippers that connect everything in a single seat. The armrests and headrest remind us of the pointy forms with “pompoms” adorning a jester’s hat. The covering is in cotton fabric and can be personalized in different hues, giving rooms an outburst of positive energy, as a tribute to the world of the circus.
